Detailed Information In AIR, Inc.’s 2007-08 U.S. Airlines Salary Survey

ATLANTA, GA - Aviation Information Resources, Inc. (AIR, Inc.), the largest and most reliable source for airline pilot career information released its updated 2007-08 edition of the U.S. Airlines Salary Survey. The publication is designed to assist pilots in choosing which airlines to pursue by providing them with career earnings and benefit information. Written by Kit Darby, president and owner of AIR, Inc. and Dan Gradwohl, airline pilot and financial analyst, the 144-page on-line edition provides estimated average monthly pay rates in every aircraft and duty position over 30 years for 52 airlines: 15 majors, 32 nationals and jet-operators, and 5 large regional airlines. A 30-year career earnings comparison for the 15 major airlines is also included. Additionally, there are tables explaining work rules and insurance programs including medical, dental, life, and disability benefits. Retirement programs include A, B & C Funds, 401(k), and profit sharing for each carrier.

Currently, a 30-year career averages over $7.3 million and a 35-year career averages over $10.2 million based on a spread from $4.4 million to $14.6 million at the top airlines, which employ over 60,088 (66%) of the 90,970 airline pilots in the U.S.

“The 2007-08 U.S. Airlines Salary Survey was developed primarily from union contracts and individual company pay summaries,” said Mr. Darby. “We have made every effort to provide complete, timely, and accurate information to guide professional pilot’s through their job search and assist in their career development. In today’s job market, this is the best tool to help pilots evaluate the career value at the 52 airlines, which provided more than 13,100 new jobs in 2007, with projected hiring of 7,500-8,500 new pilots in 2008.”
