(AIR, Inc.), the largest and most reliable source for airline pilot career information released its 2003-2004 edition of the U.S. Airlines Salary Survey this month. The publication is designed to assist pilots in choosing which airlines to pursue by providing them with career earnings and benefit information. Written by Kit Darby, president and owner of AIR, Inc. and Dan Gradwohl, financial analyst, the 144-page edition provides estimated average monthly pay rates in every aircraft and duty position for 57 airlines, 14 majors, 35 nationals, and 8 large regional airlines. Additionally, there are tables explaining work rules, insurance programs including medical, dental, life, and disability benefits; retirement programs including A & B Funds, 401(k), and profit sharing for each carrier. A 30-year career earnings comparison for the 14 major airlines is also included. A 30-year career averages over $7.7 million and can yield from $8 million to $10 million at the top airlines, which employ over 58,912 (64%) of the 90,670 airline pilots in the U.S.
