ATLANTA, GA – On January 17, 2000, Atlanta-based AIR, Inc. signed a one-year renewable agreement with Island Air, a Part 121 Dash-8 operator and sister company to Aloha Airlines, to conduct up to 20 pilot applicant interviews per month at AIR, Inc.’s headquarters in Atlanta, GA. AIR, Inc. will administer simulator evaluations and cognitive skills testing to the pilot applicants, while Island Air personnel conduct the interview sessions.

"Working with Island Air is a perfect fit for AIR, Inc.," AIR, Inc. President Kit Darby says. "We see this as the start of a long, mutually beneficial arrangement that should make the pilot hiring process more convenient for both airline and its pilot applicants by administering the tests and conducting the interview all in one day, in Atlanta."

Each Island Air pilot applicant, handled through this agreement, will undergo a series of tests prior to the actual interview. The cognitive skills test will be administered in AIR, Inc.’s new FAA approved Test center, and the simulator evaluation will be conducted on AIR, Inc.’s recently purchased AST 300 twin-engine simulator. The AST 300 features a full-color visual system with a "smart" plotter that simultaneously plots localizer and glide slope paths. Pilots flying the AIR, Inc. sim will fly to an Island Air-designated profile.

Island Air, based in Honolulu, and Hawaii’s leading commuter carrier, currently operates a fleet of three Dash-6 and three Dash-8. Between 15 and 20 pilot applicants are expected to be interviewed during each session. The next interview session is scheduled for February 9, 10, 11 and 14.
